Because of the many demolishing of 'old' and historical buildings in town, a group of concerned citizens of Taiping founded Taiping Heritage Society (Persatuan Warisan Taiping) in May 2006.
Every one of them had one goal in mind - to preserve the slowly disappearing heritage of this lovely town of Taiping for the benefits and education of future generations.
SOCIETY'S MISSION
1. To create awareness and public support for conservation so as to ensure the survival of our built heritage.
2. To promote education so as to develop an understanding of our built heritage as an expression of our history and identity.
3. To help in identifying heritage sites in Taiping and preserve its local history.
4. To organise public and student awareness programme such as heritage trails, talks, forums, seminars, exhibitions, tours, etc.
5. To build a strong, involved and committed membership
6. To cooperate with other Heritage organisations.
7. To achieve and sustain financial independence.
